Index Number: 6240 [This is from the Silent Talk Conference] Ever wondered how to page a hearing impaired person at an airport? Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) in Maryland has the answer. BWI recently installed five visual paging monitors in which all verbal announcements are typed for hearing impaired people to read. If you're running late to pick someone up at BWI (like my daughter frequently is), just call (301)857-7227 v/TDD to request a visual page for the HI person. More information about the new visual paging system is available in a free brochure from: Marketing and Development Ofice, BWI Airport, P.O.Box 8766, Baltimore, MD 21240-0766. [from: SHHH News] Wouldn't it be nice if all airports offered this convenience? A D V O C A T E !!!!! Jack. ... Index Number: 6274 [This is from the Silent Talk Conference] WOW! How neat to know this option is available. I wonder if the DFW airport has the visual HI pager, certainly they do since they are fast becoming a very busy airport. Wonder about O'Hare in Chicago... Perhaps we can advocate the LR airport before the start of the convention. Do you know if there is any visual monitor available to tell those of us when it's announced that it's time to get on the plane? I've always had to have someone tell me when it's announced over the speaker. - Ann -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!385!14!Ann.Stalnaker Internet: Ann.Stalnaker@f14.n385.z1.fidonet.org
