OJ, question:

If you all view yourselves as normal people, with a mild problem like
a throat infection, cold, little cut, deafness, scrape, ingrown toenail,
spinal biffida, atheletes foot, tennis elbow, blindness, or anything
on the same scale....

And you think that you all are normal people, with a similar problem
to one of the above, then...

Why do you all congregate in this echo? Why dont you see that this
echo is for disABLED people, and steer clear of it, because you all
really are normal people, and you dont need to associate with the puling
whining greedy selfish vegetables that the politicians would have us
believe that they are?

My answer is that I do think of myself as disABLED, but without all
the connotations of the word disabled that the normal people place
on it.

So, I dont think that being "disabled" has anything to do with deteriotating
the quality of my life. Only I can do that.

Since we all enjoy the benefits of being disABLED, we have experiences
in common with the pulsating boring grey mass of the normal people
who are jealous of us all!

Thus, its fun to chortle over them!

I know, I know, we should feel pity for the misfortunate. But gee,
its funny how they think we are the disabled ones, when we really are
the disABLED ones! Must be something to do with the American literacy
rate! Dont bloody know how to spell or capatilize now!

I'd heard of the mental condition in which the people in the asylums
like to think of themselves as authority figures, but this is a more
widespread phenomenea, yet we, as the sane minority, are the only ones
to have noticed!

Goo Gaa Goo Gaa! The men in white are after me!

PS. So whats your answer?
PPS. Gee, this straightjacket is nice'n'warm!

I would think that the answer is that all those who use this echo know it is
for discussion of issues concerning disabled people, which interests all
those who participate. All but a couple of said participants would openly
admit to having a physical disability. I don't really think any of us try to
avoid that fact.

You're just trying to be contraversial, you little dickens, you!

If you notice the ABLED is emphasized. People are not disabled they may
have a disability, but that does not disable them from being people.
We all have some disabilities, some more pronounced than others. It
seems tome we should focus on the person and not necesarily on the
disability. What is normal? People with disabilities come in all sizes
shapes etc some are very smart (Mensa members even) while others are at
the other en of the scale when it comes to intelligence and of course
thewhole gamut in between.
