Hi Vixen.
Just wanted to post to you that I spoke with one of my friends who has
a guide dog. She got hers from San Rafael (Same place as you are?).
She is deaf in one ear and they did not make that a strike against her
in getting a dog. Also, she told me that there is a guy here in Tucson
(I believe) by the name of Manny who had a dog named Adair (sp?).
Manny is profoundly deaf AND he feels the traffic through his FEET.
The trainer was with him most of the time while he was in training but
he did get a guide dog from them so you might want to bring up his name
in conversation with the school. My friend was told by a
representative from the school that she is going to have to retire her
dog this year (the dog, Joyce, is 12 years old), and it will be up to
Cheryl just when that will be. Normally, retraining with a new dog
takes a week or two but Cheryl will have to be there one month because
of her hearing problem. So, I guess what I'm saying is DON'T let them
give you any garbage - toss it back at them and let them OWN it cause
it is theirs!
Sorry about the new `STUFF' coming up - I DO UNDERSTAND.
Got to go.

Nadine
