I don't know if this message ever made it here, so I'll ask again...

I'm presently taking ASL classes and was wondering if there are any video
tapes available (instructional) and where they can be obtained. I can be
pretty dense sometimes and it helps me to see things over and over again.
Eventually, things stick into my memory.

I'm also open to any comments or suggestions that would help me in learning
ASL and understanding it's place in the deaf community.

Thanks again!

I hadn't seen it before, Joe, and I've been following SilentTalk
closely. Thanks for posting again.

I've been able to check out some ASL tutorial VHS tapes from our
local library, Joe. The quality varies greatly, just like all other
videotape material. Inquire at you library. If they don't have them,
maybe they can get them for you.

Some other sources:

  National Information Center on Deafness
Gallaudet University - 800 Florida Ave. NE
  Washington, DC 20002
(ask for information on ASL tutorial videotapes)

  House Ear Institute, P.R. Department
  256 South Lake Street
  Los Angeles, CA 90057
(ask for the "SEE HEAR" videotape catalog.)

National Technical Institute of the Deaf
  One Lomb Memorial Drive
  Post Office Box 9887
  Rochester, NY 14623-0887
(ask for "Catalog of Captioned Educational Videotapes")

There are other sources as well, Joe. Most of these tapes are kinda
expensive, so you might want to arrange to borrow them for review
before purchasing. Hope this is helpful.

Jack.

... I never listen!
