 > Does anybody have any information on wheelchair accessible
 > hotels or motels in Irvine, near Los Angeles? Do you know which

Bite your tongue! Irvine is over 50 miles from Los Angeles. It is one
of the cities in Orange County, a metroplex in its own right. We need
no reference to other places, thank you.

Ahem. I don't know of any hotels that have specific accessibilty
setups, but i can tell you they're awfully expensive. I reccomend you
try to stay in Santa Ana, Tustin, or better still, Anaheim.

As for vehicle rental, i'll look it up for you. But i do know the
local bus comany OCTD has a program called Dial A Ride that uses small
lift equipped buses that you can call to pick you up and take you to
specific destinations. Call 714-636-ride for information.

Hi Jesse, maybe we need to call the local van conversion shops and tell
them that there is a need and someone will stock one in the area for rent. I
just talked to a guy in Cleveland and he told me that the idea never even
occured to him and he is going to think about it. To be truthful I hadn't
even thought about it. Even if he is only thinking about it now, at least
that is a start.

Pandora...
Many a business was started because someone discovered an unfilled
market. But I know for sure that the big companies have thought about it,
yet haven't moved on it. Call them up and push them on it and you will
eventually end up in a PR or Sales department where they will emphatically
and finally definitely say "gee, that's a good idea, goodbye." Do you know
how much customizing is needed to accomodate a driver sitting in his/her
wheelchair? Maybe they're afraid of making a very limited-use vehicle that
won't rack up the miles. Maybe their liability people have scared them
off. Maybe they've lost their immaginations.

Jesse
