Index Number: 7009 Someone somewhere (too many echoes bouncing around!) asked about DeafNet. I discovered an old-ish text file about it, and if anyone has questions about it and is also anxious to try a message into internet.bitnet, you can write to hal@nic.sri.com, Hal Huntley, SRI International, 333 Ravenswood Avenue, Menlo Park CA 94025. SRI has also built some smart ASCII/Baudot translating modems, and they may have some information there, maybe not. Schematics for them are available in "Deafnet Dissemination Project Final Report" which is available for twenty dollars from Marion Collins at the SRI address above. Rumor has it that Deafnet was formed by a Boston group called Deaf Communications Institute, and they whomped up "DCI.DEAFNET" as a TeleNet node, but it's ASCII only. Those guys are at P O Box 247, Fayville MA 01745 (617)-872-9406 Voice/TDD. Whoever you are, I hope this is a good enough lead. I'll stick this up on SilentTalk as well.
