Hi Jack,
Here here, I couldn't agree more! I have a friend who decided she thought she
had a bad hearing loss and she went to a Hearing Aid dispencer connected tester.
Of course, the tester told her she needed a hearing aid!
Since she is on limited government support, she could not afford to pay for
"their" hearing aid. So, the state sent her to another pretty good clinic here
in town. The end of the story is that she discovered that at age forty five,
all she had was less than a 10 per cent loss in one ear and of course, aids
were not prescribed.
However, I am still marveling at the idea of an over-the-phone hearing test.
