AP> I do wish that agencies for The Disabled would hire AP> competent people. Is that a fairy's wish? Yes. At the moment. Not enough is known about what it is like to be disabled. The social taboos are so strong, that we have all internalized the horrors & fears of living this "taboo lifestyle". As we chat here, we gain a new perspective -- that it is indeed ok to feel and experience the world, as we really experience it. I find that transferring my confused, amorphous feelings into some kind os sentence -- this process of verbalizing is increasing my ability to convey what it means to be ME, to the people around me. Those who use this conference as a way of defining their lives, are doing an essential first step into preparing the rest of the planet to recognize, yes, there is a worthwhile life after we are born disabled, or after we become disabled. I am new to this echo, but I just had to drop a line and say how great it is to see someone else who doesn't believe that just because one is handicapped that they should rush right out to try and be healed. I have always thought that if it will serve God's purpose somewhere down the line, I will be otherwise I am doing what I was intended to do...help others understand what it is like to be me. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!271!260!Peggy.Mackenzie Internet: Peggy.Mackenzie@f260.n271.z1.fidonet.org
