JC> There has been much progress and more to come.
JC> My fear is that there will eventually be a backlash. People are

JC> Are you really a victim? Or are you a person with
 JC> spastic diplegic CP?

This is the PARADOX confronting all managers in the disability
industry.

We know that the publicsees the world in WIN - LOSE terms. If we
are to have any public recognition by the general public, then we
must approach them in terms that THEY understand.

For example, the General Public finds it easier to relate to:

  1) SELF & SELFISHNESS
  2) Garden, plants
  3) Pets
  4) Babies
  5) Immediate family
  6) Children
  7) Next social unit larger than "Family"
  8) Teenagers
  9) Adults

I haven't done my market research about the accuracy of the
above.

The point that I am trying to illustrate is that as long as the
public responds to "old-fashioned realities", that is how we must
approach them.

There might be SOME debatable merit in being AHEAD of the level
of dumbness of the general public, but at this stage, I prefer
being PRAGMATIC:

  IF IT WORKS, USE IT

Or another way:

FORGET THE PRINCIPLES, AS LONG AS IT WORKS!

The idealists who are trying to live on some other planet will
argue with my pragmatic approach. But sometimes, I'll still
describe myself as a VICTIM of a CAR ACCIDENT.
