Index Number: 8514 June 10th to 16th is the National Access Awareness Week. The Cumberland Advisory Committee for the Disabled is setting up an information booth at Place D'Orleans on June 15th and 16th. There will be demonstration of environmental controls and the use of computers for the disabled, and a display of information on resources available in the Ottawa-Carleton region. So if you live in the Ottawa-Carleton region or are planning to visit, come and see us. This is the first year our committee is doing anything for NAAW, so we need all the encouragement we can get. We would also like suggestions on how to improve the displays and what else we could do for next year. We asked the mayor of Cumberland to declare the week NAAW week. That was no problem. Then we asked if he and the counsellors would spend part of a day in a wheelchair. We were told that we did not give them enough notice, but next year with more notice they may do it. We approached them early February. I guess if that is not enough time for them may be next year we should approach them in November of the previous year. <grin> Thanks Al for volunteering to help out both on June 15th and 16th. You are great, especially since you know more about computers than the rest of us put together. <grin> -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!163!223!Julius Internet: Julius@f223.n163.z1.fidonet.org
