Hi Greg,
Two things,One, Betty calls us her younguns in fun and in
tenderness. We are of age, and we are competent. We are just not as
old as she is. If you'd been reading the echo and retaining what
you'd read, you'd realize that she's a grandmother, honored elder.
Two: Free Will is not a myth. It is a reality. It is actualized
everytime you send a message to this echo. You can choose how and
what to say. I can choose to be good or evil. The choices are put
before one a thousand tames a day. Do, for example, treat another
person with respect or do I just tell that person to go to Hell,
like I am thinking I should. I (will) not.
And, my oriental friend, check the laws in Japan if you believe
that people aren't responsible for their own actions. Do you know
what the penalty is for causing a traffic accident in Japan? Well,
according to a navy officer I know, you have to supply
transportation to the person whose car you damaged. If you kill
someone while driving, you are *I* *repeat* you are to pay the
victem's family the sum of what he/she would have earned in their
whole lifetime. Now, tell me if you think that taking
responsibility for ones own actions is dead.
I know that there are some people who'd like to raise a crop of
disabled kids who believe that. I heard a kid say to his vision
teacher when asked where's your homework, "I couldn't do it, you
didn't braille the dittos for me." Phie on this type of mind-set.
If you didn't get a braille ditto, then get the ditto read to you,
or respond, "I didn't try hard enough to get the homework done." i
DIDN'T!!!!!!! Nobody else, not the society, not the vision teacher,
not the weather, not the dog, not anything but the single pronoun
*I*.
If our society is allowing disabled people like you to think that
way, then I call it what it is, straight from Mephostopholes, the
demon who is the sweet talker, can talk you into or out of
anything.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
