    CONFERENCE EMPHASIZES USE OF COMPUTERS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
  
Can computers be used to improve neighborhoods and help meet the
social, political and cultural needs of working people, women,
the disabled, ethnic and cultural minorities and the poor ?
Community and political organizers concerned with these questions
will meet in New York City on June 8 and 9, 1990 at Hunter
College, 68th Street at Park Avenue (in Manhattan) for the Fifth
Annual "COMPUTERS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE CONFERENCE". A panel
discussion of particular interest will be held Saturday June 10,
2:30-4:30 pm, on "COMPUTERS AND THE DISABLED", which will discuss
the innovative uses of computers and electronic devices to
empower the physically disabled.  Come hear how computers are
being used to increase the participation and autonomy of the
physically disabled in organizations and in society at large.

          Tzipporah BenAvraham, Brooklyn College
          John Halko, Jr. Marist College
          Amy Spaulding, St. John's University
          Also, a demonstration of Sign Friends, software that
          teaches American Sign Language and MAG HERC a shareware
          text-magnification program
          
Registration Fees: 
$ 35 for either or both days if registration received 
by 5 June 1990; $ 45 if received after 5 June 1990.
Limited Scholarships are available.
