About a year ago ADAPT won a lawsuit to force the CTA to equip its
buses with lifts. The first group was ordered, but the
manufacturer has missed several deadlines. BTW, Tom Shworles, the
chairman of COPH-2 (the organization that runs this board) was one
of the plaintiffs. In court, he described how he was unable to
accompany his 8-year-old to the hospital for heart surgery because
there was no accessible transportation.
