Hi John,
I do hope you get this reply. I haven't quoted your message because I've had
problems posting to UUCP from FIDO. I keep getting great advice, but it just
doesn't seem to stick.
As for the question you asked about how to get a job: well, it's like this.
The System, office of Vocational Rehabilitation is helpful, (sometimes), The
organizations for the Blind are helpful (sometimes), but what really works is
persistance, persistance, persistance, persistance, and networking,
networking, networking, networking. Depending on the person's disability,
he/she will encounter everything from indifference to outright hostility. Your
friend will just have to send out resumes and network and pray and hope
somebody out there listens and cares.
As for the modifications to equipment, etc, it's best if he/she knows the
kinds of modifications needed and tells the employer specifically what is
available and how it can be obtained.
