Some states have special agencys for specific handicapps, such as an
Office f/t Blind & visual impaired, or a rehabilitation center set up to
help with job placment. Sometimes they want you to go throught their
training or evaluation program first though. Check with your state
agency, maybe the Dept of Welfare or something similar takes care of it.

I hope he has better luck that I did! The Virginia State
Employment Commission does not view me has handicapped because I am
educated and have been successfully employed in the past, never
mind that I have been wearing braces and crutches for more than 30
years and have been unable to find a job for more than 3 years!
The local endependence center wanted me to go through one of their
training programs, but I am not up for working in a sheltered
workshop envioronment only making enough money to pay for the
transportation and other expenses involved with the "privilege" of
working. Somehow around here the definition of "handicapped" has
come to mean "mentally impaired" and I do not feel there is
anything wrong with that part of me (although some people might
disagree with me <grin>). Maybe if I had enough "clout" I could
get some help, but I have been out of the "professional"
handicapped community for too long and no longer have the right
contacts.
