Index Number: 8712 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] To all Adaptive Equipment Sellers: How about an article listing the Adaptive Equipment Sellers in this country--and maybe elsewhere too. A simple article with the name, address, phone, and essential information about the vendors in question. This could be a great resource. If you want to send me msgs I'll collect them starting now--as well as begin putting some up for review--such as, I'll list some companies and if anybody knows that the info I put up is incorrect, please let me know. Hey free simple advertisements with no bias--what do ya want for free! (tanstafl) Oh, willie--I'm writing somje material on braille translators now, hopefully an all inclusive list of available and "were available," software packages. The next thing after that may be a review of each , and a how to type article--such as "Here's how you make ASCII columnar materials come out nicely done with Duxbury with minimal hassle. I have a lot of little tricks around and am of course welcoming more. Okay, now for the rest of these ideas: How about a repair guide to some of the equipment we use. Anybody know how this might be started--something like a hardware troubleshooting article. Not too easy, but not so tangled in jargon that the new people can't keep up. Next: A list of the Dog Guide Schools, including the differences between them from the Dog and Pesons point of view! Ok, who's gonna write the Dog's part? Next: Who's Who: How about a article with a brief autobiography of many of the BlinkTalk people here--not like an expos`e, but just a little more info than all of us already know. Next: An article listing as many screen enlargers as possible- -and some reviews later, with emphasis on the comparisons between the products. Next: An article about Braille Displays, listing them, and with again, emphasis on comparisons between the products. Next: A similar type article on voice output software--this I feel would probablly be a two part article if done thoroughly. Next: How about a "dream machine," article. Some dreamers out there should write some articles on what they would like to see in the future--including some ideas on how the "dream," would work. For example: I'd like to have an inteligent learning voice program, that can figure out what I need to hear from programs, and also what is just noise. Think about it. Next: What new: How about some real information about what research is being done in the adaptive tech field--and why we're at it, even medical information would be great. Okay, now thats a start to the idea mill--the problem is that for this information to become reality we have to work--and to make it really good, work hard. I hope to have one of the early articles. Hope mine is at least useful. Bye. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!109!143.0!Al.Hoffman Internet: Al.Hoffman@p0.f143.n109.z1.fidonet.org
