(this message belongs in the Silenttalk echo. I hope i am posting it in
the rightplace - if not, I would appreciate it if the sysop could move
it). There is a group called Caption Action. Caption Action
is circulating a petition in the deaf and hearing communities calling on
the video companies of america to closed caption all of their
videotapes. So far, we have over 32,000 signatures and have succeeded
in persuading some video companies to closed caption more. But there
are still some companies which don't caption much or any of their
videos. Also, we are working to get the Television Decoder Circuitry
Act passed in Congress. That bill, as you may already know, will
require all TVs with screens thirteen inches or larger to have built-in
closed caption technology. To receive a petition please write me at:
Caption Action, 5000 South 7th Road #302, Arlington, VA 22204-2538 or
send me a FAX message at my FAX number (703) 845-1030. Allow 6 rings
for the FAX to start. Thank you for reading my message. I will be
happy to answer any questions anyone may have. - Jay
