Thanks for the insights on pain management, I appreciate it. I agree
with you about the physical therapists - many seem to have gone to the
Marquis de Sade School of P.T.! It is easy for some of the "experts" in
medicine to write off us chronic-pain types as nutcases - the real
practitioners are the ones that treat us, believe us, and try valiantly
to find a solution for our problems. My orthopedist has been super -
even though some of the referrals he gave me resulted in me seeing
quacks that sit on their thumbs (he always finds me someone else when
that happens!).
I cannot take any anti-inflammatory meds because of a severe stomach
problem. Even taken with Tagamet & other meds for ulcer/stomach
problems I can't tolerate them. My husband (a pharmacy technician) has
done some research and has discovered that there are some
anti-inflammatories that can be injected and in so doing, avoid the
gastric problems. I am going to speak to my Dr. on Monday about this &
see if he will do this for me. I will let you know if he OKs it & how
it works (hope, hope, hope).
I spend a LOT of time with my Thermophore heating pad. I call it my
Tahiti Pad because of the relief it brings. Too bad it doesn't come as
a body suit with batteries!
It is nice to have someone to talk with that can relate to my pain &
suffering. I can see why you like your support group so much. I am
gonna have to research & see if there is anything in my area - I feel
very alone at times because virtually all the people I know think I am
a hypochondriac wanting attention. One guy I know even insisted that my
injuries are "self-inflicted": yeah, I painted a "Hey Trucks, Please
Hit Me" sign on my car, right? Last year, I lost my balance on a
stairway, fell, and fractured my ankle. Same guy insisted I did it
deliberately - grrrrrrr!
