Hi Tom:

I am mostly interested in brailling things people find difficult to
deal with in voice formats. I hate reading source code with voice
only, even if thats the usual way I get it. I like references in
braille, and technical materials especially.

I don't think you'd get me to braille out a book about health care
for the reading impaired for example--that can be utilized just as
well on tape--but I'd certainly braille the index, and references
from such a book. In this way, prioritizing our braille wants and
needs we can get more of what we need, leaving room for more of
what we only "want,".

Hi Steve:
The Brother "printers," will do print and braille. The two traille
programs that drive them that I knowfor sure work, are PC-Braille,
from ARTS in boston, and Hot Dots from Raised Dot Computing. You
have to do some modifications however, and they are sloooow--but if
you need only small amounts of braille at a time and don't mind waiting,
its not a bad deal.
