                             SILENT SONG

Before I saw the music, before I knew the song, we were both Silent
We danced our ways through different worlds, afraid to know each other.
Before I saw the music, I think we did not exist, we were dreams.
But when I found the Silent song, a spark came, never to be smothered.

When I saw the music. I found magic and heard the Silent Song
It was a mystery, I could not understand, beautiful, it called to me.
When I saw the music, distance closed in upon itself, without a sound
when I saw the Silent Song, I thought, why must our distance be?

As I learned the music, I was a child, anew, eager to touch this melody
Overwhelmed yet ever drawn to the magic which is also you.
As I learned the music, I marveled at the intricate song that is silence
and I awoke to see a world expanded and a gift I never knew.

When I learned the music, I saw the pride in other hearts and souls
and learned that I could sing your song and hope you would sing too.
When I learned the music, cautiously, I gave my song to you,
but the Silent Song requires respect and I was afraid of what you might do.

When I sing the Silent Song, I stumble and sometimes fret
for this special music of the hands can sing of hurt and love and fear.
Yet I see the signs of togetherness, the signs of harmony
as this magic composed in silence, brings us slowly ever near.

The music in the Silent Song requires no ears to know or hear
and facing you heart to heart, we are also face to face.
And beyond the magic, we may push down walls of ignorance,
to speak, to touch, to laugh, to cry and finally, to embrace.
