 > Just started reading this area recently and would be interested in
 > hearing from others with similar problems. I had a C4-5 injury Dec87
 > with quadraparesis, hypersensativity. Major functions are intact
 > (Grace of God) but minor problems plague me. I am ambulatory for
 > short distances but suffer overuse problems of my best arm (my
 > formerly dominant right hand and arm are only a grasping assist).

My hubby, Buddy had the same type injury ... but he also had a broken
vert C5 and ruptured disc C5-C6 besides the C4-C5 injury ... He also is
ambulatory (sort of), muscle spazms plague him severly, loss of strength in
mostly right arm and hand .... His original injury was in 1981 - first
surgery in 1982 ... Second and third surgeries in 1988 ...

It doesn't get any better ... (I don't mean to discourage you) ...
you have to just live 1 day at a time. Walk when you can - do what you are
able to do when possible - rest when you feel badly ... DON'T give up !!
Keep moving around. The doctor told Buddy that his moving like he
constantly does is what keeps him going. He takes 20 mg of Baclofen a day,
plus 800 mg of Moltrin. At times he needs some Valium to help calm him a
little. The Baclofen helps with the muscle spazms somewhat, but if he
overdoes himself, he will have a very spastic day the next day anyway.

 > It's real nice to see all the enthusiasm among the people in this
 > area

This area has really helped Buddy a lot ... He doesn't like to post
messages, but instead tells me what to write for him most of the time. He
found out that there were lots of others just like him ..

 > Love to you all, Don Horton

Same to you, Don ... Take it easy now and take care of yourself.

                              Jean & Buddy
