Index Number: 8997 >>This is another example how we disabled people can "help" >>business to be MORE successful - by expanding the options for >>EVERYONE! EA> I was reminded of this just recently when our local City replaced EA> many of the corner-curbs in our neighborhood with curb-cuts. EA> Examples: EA> 1) bicyclists easily enter a bike path EA> 2) harm's way by taking his bike up on the sidewalk via a cut; EA> 3) Of course, little kids, and mothers with strollers, love them. EA> When things are designed with disability in mind, they tend to be EA> more useful for everyone. More examples: 4) Delivery men with barrows & trolleys 5) Cars that need to be pushed out of the intersection 6) Frail & disabled peoplle with quad-sticks 7) Children on tricycles etc 8) Persons with wheeled shopping trolleys 9) Workmen with work-trailers And in the area of computers, even more things are there, waintingto be moved from "Just-for-disabilty" to "For Everyone". It has been said that the typewriter was invented because of the needs of a disabled person. Now look what has happened - they've invented computer keyboards! -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!3!712!631!Greg.See-Kee Internet: Greg.See-Kee@f631.n712.z3.fidonet.org
