Index Number: 9098 I attended the SHHH meetings (Self Help for Hard of Hearing People) in Little Rock, Arkansas, a week ago and participated in a very special rendezvous, which I thought I would mention here on this conference. Late Saturday evening a group of people got together in a room in the Capitol Hotel and "talked" for several hours like typical keyboard junkies -- banging away on a couple of laptop computers. Although the people in the room had come from distant parts of the U.S. (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Oklahoma, and California), and although they were all hearing impaired to one degree or another, neither cultural distance nor deafness interfered with the communications and comradery that evening. I had not met any of the others face-to-face before that night, but had seen their posts here on this echo. It was really exciting to meet the "faces behind the words," and I loved every minute of it. Thanks for the "special rendezvous" to my CMC (and now "personal") friends -- Jack O'keefe, Ann Stalnaker, Wayne Roorda, and Frank Hicinbothem. IT WAS FUN!!!! (And maybe nexy year we can get several others to join us.) Roy Miller The Professor Who Never Listens, But Whose Eyes Hear A Lot
