Index Number: 9147 My wife is recovering from an accident and would very much like to ride her bike again. The problem is she has limited power and poor balance. It is possible that one day she could learn to ride the bike again, but our summer is short and we would like to get out and enjoy it. I have searched magazines, books, and our local bike shops for ideas to help her, and one idea that I've found is converting her ten speed Schwinn to three wheeler. In a book published in 1980, "The All New Complete Book of Bicycling", by Eugene Sloane he shows such a conversion and says that kits are available. I haven't been able to locate any mention of these kits anywhere but this book. Does anyone out there know of anything like this? Please, I'm looking for details, and thanks! Joe

Index Number: 9148 I had done a search of the Abledata database last summer for tricycles. I did not see any kits in there but there was one company which listed a modified adult tricycle so you may want to contact them. You should also contact Abledata for an up-to-date search. Phone is 800-344-5405 or 203-667-5405; the first 8 pages are free. The company was: Flaghouse 150 North MacTuespen Parkway Mount Vernon, NY 10011 (212) 699-1900 Two other companies that had several tricycles listed and may be worth a call are: Community Playthings Rifton Equipment for the Handicapped Route 213 Rifton, NY 12471 (914) 658-3141 (914) 658-3143 Mobility Aids Inc. (Tri-Aid Manufacturing distributor) 5356 W. 79th Street Indianapolis, IN 46268 (800) 222-6446 (317) 872-1077 If you find anything, please let us know.
