[This is from the Blink Talk Conference]

Well, I'm home from Denver, another plane ride where the emergency
routine was clearly explained to me without being patronizing, (This
time it was by flight attendant Mike, however, so not quite as pleasant
to me as the one from Wendy!) and I have just a few thoughts I'd like to
share!
It is amazing what a difference a year makes, because my
perception of the convention this year is quite different than that of
last year's, my initial convention experience! Last year I was totally
overwhelmed by the new items being displayed by the producers, including
the Arkenstone and several other things that are now being talked about
here regularly and used by many of us! Although there were of course
many new products at the show this year, we BlinkTalkers obviously have
a quicker link to these things than most, and nothing really knocked me
off my pins! Perhaps some of the cheaper alternatives to the Vistech,
etc. are worth mentioning, but I'll leave that to someone who could use
such a device to describe. Likewise, there are some new options
available with the Arkenstone, but one of you experts in the scanner
department can handle that.
As I suspected, our official meeting of BlinkTalkers became too
large for the room I reserved at the restaurant, and I apologize for
confusion and inability to meet everyone attending face to face! I
assure you that at next years convention we will plan better, probably
involving us all chipping in and having a prepared buffet or whatever,
but I simply had no idea how many people to expect, and although I was
totally amazed and impressed with the turnout, it did prevent us from
having the kind of personal affair I would have preferred!
Finally, to all of you who I did get a chance to meet face to face,
thankyou, thankyou, thankyou! Those evenings in my room, despite the
fact it may not have appeared like it when I was screaming I needed some
sleep, were the best part of the whole convention for me! That first
night when we just all sort of collected will remain in my memory for
the rest of my life, cause indeed, I knew I was with good friends! I
hope that those of you at the NFB convention had a similar experience,
and some day we're going to have our own convention...no polotics, no
speeches by dignitaries, and no alterior motives of any kind! Just a
bunch of blink friends getting together and doing some talking!
                                                        Willie
