[This is from the Blink Talk Conference]

We had a demonstration of the hardware and software sold by Personal Data
Systems of Campbell California, yesterday, here in Albuquerque. As you
know, they manufacture and sell the Audapter, a high-quality serial
and/or parallel synthesizer. They are also an Arkenstone dealer and the
folks that have written the EasyScan software that is now being
distributed with all Arkenstone Readers. The easyscan software has been
upgraded with new capabilities, including a quick read more that will
start reading while still scanning. Noel Runyan has also developed two
new programs which might be of interest. One is a money identifier for
the Arkenstone, and the other is called PicTac. It takes a graphics
image which is scanned, convents it to braille and sends it to a braille
printer. The quality of the picture of course depends on the quality of
the graphic image, that is how simople or complicated it is. While not
perfect, it does offer a means of getting some ideas about shapes etc.
The money identifier and pictac are being given free to all people who
purchase their arkenstones from Personal Data Systems. Noel is willing
to sell them to others, but hasn't set a price yet. You can reach them
at 408-826-1126. KANSYS, Inc. is a dealer for the Audapter, so if you
are interested, contact me.
