I thought I would tell you I agree with Pet therapy. When I became
ill and had surgery, I got a golden retriever from a breeded in
Michigan. Her name is Kelly. After I came home from the hospital
I found I didn't have time to sit and think about everything that
was happening to me. I had an 8 week old puppy that had to go out
every 20 min, had to fed 3x a day and needed to be taught house
manners. She is now 6 years old and the best thing that I ever did
was get her. No matter how I'm feeling or what happens, she always
loves me. All she wants is my attention. As I am typing this she
is laying under my feet. When I am ill, she stays by me. She
likes to raid the laundry basket and bring me socks(just want-a
dirty sock). She has adapted well to all the medical equipment
underfoot. She used to run away from IV poles(she thought they
would fall on her)(maybe because one did), but now she doesn't
care. When the nurses come from the agency she welcomes them. She
doesn't bark at them anymore. When I am in the hospital I miss her
so. My friends bring her to the hospital and I go downstairs to
see her. She goes nuts and acts like she hasn't seen my in years.
That does me more good than any medicine. All I know is this: No
matter what goes on day to day, I love her, and she loves me and
thats all she wants and will ever want. Just to be a part of my
life.
