The convention is Association of Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind 
and Visually Impaired, a professional organization.  It is headquartered in 
Alexandria, Virginia.

Rumor has it that it won't be necessary to pay the full registration fee 
to see the exhibits at the A.E.R. Convention
That's one way that "amateurs" could participate.  I won't be there, but 
my wife will be
