[misc.handicap] DEC VT-220 Terminal Emulation

To those of you who know me from previous activity here -- Hi! <waving>

I have a specific request. I'm looking for software which is
compatible with speech (it's a vert card) and can do DEC VT-220
emulation. VT100 is not good enough. The specific system involved
makes use of keys which are not supported on VT100 like the GOLD
key and the previous/next-screen keys.

Any help would be appreciated, either via netmail or in the echo. Thanks.

Let's see if I can describe what I'm using even as I type this in.
I believe it will work for you. It works great for me.

Digital sells an extremely large package called PCSA. This is a
system that completely integrates an IBM pc type machine into an
ethernet, and VAX environment. It includes many of the DECnet
protocols, electronic mail, etc, etc.

There are two components of this system that may interest you and
you may be able to get them without the rest of the PCSA system.

The first component is the LK250 keyboard. This is a keyboard
exactly like the vt220 keyboard. It's got loads of keys including
the editing keypad, the help key, the do key, the gold key, and
lots of function keys. I am sure that you can get this keyboard
without the whole PCSA package, and I think it goes for something
like $100 bucks.

The second piece is the sethost program. Sethost is a vt220
emulator. You don't need the lk250 keyboard to use sethost, I use
a regular enhanced keyboard, but life would be better with the
lk250. I don't think you can get sethost without the rest of the
PCSA package, but I wouldn't sware to it. All I can say is if
you're looking for a vt220 emulator, you can get one from the
makers of the vt220 and I, personally, can tell you it does a great
job. In fact, I think I'll hit gold-f now to finish this and exit
the LSE editor.

If you have any further questions, feel free to send me mail. I
don't work on PCSA, but I do use it and I may be able to help.
