hi linda, i'm glad you solved your problem with the braille 'n speak. dean is
very good about supported his products. i generally feel ragher angry at
vendors of adaptive equipment because of the outrageous prices lack of support
and inferior quality of the products they sell to blind people. blazie
engineering is the exception to that rule. their products are reasonably
priced of good quality and the support can't be beat. i always make a point to
keep up with the latest products and the only one that i've ever seen and
decided that i just couldn't do without was the braille 'n speak. i'm like you
i carry mine everywhere i go and i haven't had any problems with it at all. i
have several friends with braille 'n speaks and they haven't had any problems
either.

anyway enough soap boxing. the answer to your modem question is that just
about any modem should work with the braille 'n speak. i think a good choice
would be one of the pocket modems. they have the advatage of being small, light,
and battery powered. this lets you use your braille 'n speak as a terminal
when your traviling. you can get these modems at most computer stores and they
are available in both 1200 and 2400 baud models. if you have any more
questions let me know. my phone number is 512 451-1717 and my bbs number is
512 451-4349.

finally it was nice getting to know you a little better also. one of the
nice things about conventions is getting to meet so many people. look forward
to seeing you again soon.
                                  take care
                                  tommy
