Index Number: 9296 Mayve I should have put this in to Blinktalk, but as I was reading this echo, I thought someone might have a clue as to what might be going on. I use Flipper 3.03 with Accent, and sometimes when using Telix, my computer will lock up on me. Does anyone have any ideas why this may be, or do you have any sugestions? I've also had some other strange things that Flipper does with my Toshiba that seem strange to me. Sometimes it will skip a letter that I have typed or maybe it will make a strange sound. Index Number: 9324 Ed, thanks for your concern, and yes, I use Telix 3.12. I use the ansi screens as I have some vision, and enjoy the pictures. Both Flipper and Accent are both set up with use of ansi in mind. Personally I think there is a bug in Flipper, but I really hate to even discuss it with them as I just almost bet they will say that I have a harddware problem. In case this is helpfull, I've tried both 3.0 and 3.11, and neither one releived the problem. It's a PC Mag PD program that works quite well, is a little faster than ANSI.SYS and is smaller too. You may also try a version of ANSI.SYS from another DOS version. Also try loading ANSI.SYS first if you don't have any drivers that require they load before any others. Fianlly if you are using any of the fast ANSI replacement programs out there try just using ANSI.SYS instead. Some of these programs don't work well with some software. However if all else fails with ANSI.SYS or ANSI.COM try NANSI, ZANSI, or FANSI Console. They are the ANSI replacements that I mentioned before. One of them just might cure your problem. Index Number: 9447 BK> Ed, it occured to me after I saw this message again on BK> another board that I didn't tell you about Accent or BK> Flipper. I'll just tell you this, Accent is the speech BK> hardware, and Flipper is the software that decides how the BK> hardware will run. That's about as technical as I get, Does it require ANSI to run? If not boot without it and see if the problem goes away. If you are using ANSI just to view the pics on BBS and such get ANSI.COM and load it when you load Telix. That may also help and ANSI.COM can be unloaded when you are done with it. Another thought, TURN OFF ALL SOUND IN Telix. The sound board and Telix may be fighting. Line noise produces beeps on the remote PC many times. What may be happeneing is that line noise which Flipper is sending to the sound board never gets to your ears because of the conflict when a ctrl-g or some other character that produces sound comes across in the noise burst. Does this only happen when you are using the modem? As a last ditch effort try Qmodem.
