Index Number: 9953 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] Hi Al: sure nice hearing from you, and I certainly agree that in certain parts of the country, wrestling was more difficult for blind boys than in other parts. However, I still think it can be done, and I was fortunate enough to wrestle throughout high school and college. Admittedly I attended the University of Virginia, and wrestling in this area certainly wasn't then what it was in Iowa. However, I did manage once in my career to defeat the guy who took second in the nationals, and as a totally blind wrestler, and probably the first to compete in a varcity sport at that University, that made me feel pretty good. I think you will agree that if you were a wrestler, regardless of record, the confidence that competition gives you is confidence which is difficult to get from anything else. Keep in touch Al, and sure enjoyed your message. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!377!6!Stew.Bowden Internet: Stew.Bowden@f6.n377.z1.fidonet.org
