[misc.handicap] Computer aids for the handicapped

I am posting this request for a friend of mine. Since I don't
subscribe to this group, please reply to me via email or to Barbara
Williams directly at:108 Exeter Road, Kingston, NH 03848. Of course
I'll summarize for the net if I get any responses.

I wonder if you could post a message for me on the net? I
have an uncle, who is currently in a rehabilitation hospital in Tampa.
He has MultipleSclerosis. As a result, he has trouble moving his eyes
from side to side, he has limited control of his right hand and no
control of his left. He is trached and on a ventilator, so he can't
speak. He has other symptoms but none are relevant to my question.
As far as I know, he has lost only a little of his mental capabilities
and so is feeling very frustrated.

My uncle was very active with computers, before his disease,
and so my cousin got him a lap top computer to play with. He was very
excited upon receiving this but is having trouble manipulating the
keyboard and viewing the letters on the screen. Besides the obvious
mental stimulation this device could provide for my uncle, it could
also serve as an aid to communication. Does anyone know of any
devices or programs that would help him with his eyesight or his
keyboard control?

			Thank you for your consideration,
			Barbara Williams
