Dearest Bat,
Sincere apologies on the assumption of your gender. (how was I to
know?) One of the main computer gurus in Austin is named Bat and he is a
grouchy old cuss. I am trying to be sincere, my slaps at the ones who
abuse the system at the expense of those of us\You who are truly hurt
were not intended to richocet off of the intended targets. They wouldn't
be here anyhow, I should have realized.
As to how to collect from an insurance company; I'm thinking about
writing a small book or pamphlet on the subject. Its really simple but
most folks just don't have the patience for it. Collecting, I mean. You
simply have to prove your case. Although you know quite well how bad the
pain or injury is; the file that the adjuster has doesn't. He or she has
to prove it to the pencil-necked idjiots who come along later to audit
our files and always think that any claim could have been settled
cheaper! What I would like to do is help those who truly need the
assistance, without seeing them go to shylock attorneys who skim a
smooth third or more off of the top of every settlement, and you are
left to pay the bills out of what you get. The severe cases, like Ed's
little girl are the ones that bother me the most. Any junior high
graduate could submit damages like that; ask the company to prove what
the policy limits were; and then say "Gimme!" that does not take a Law
Degree at all. I've never flinched on paying for cases like that, and
never seen any others do it, either. More to come....
