We too often are ruled by our emotions, rather than our heads.
The Attorneys realize that very, very, few insurance claims ever
get a suit filed. And of those that do, 90% or better are settled on
the courthouse steps as it were. So if the end result is going to be
a settlement; and we know that from the outset; why do we let our
emotion get in the way?
When a young attorney calls me and starts being brash and abusive,
I always know that his client is in the office; and they confirm
that. The attorneys who try to "smooth" their way through the claim,
those are the ones who settle more; and generally make more money.
So should you be if you want to settle your own claim. I tell
unrepresented people this every day. But do they listen? Like Sheep
listen. All they can concern themselves with is how much they are going
to get for their car. We have books and tables, and software and
everything else in the world that will establish the value of a chunk of
metal. But where is the book that can truly establish what a lifetime of
pain or disability is "worth"? Insurance companies are scared to death
of courtrooms by and large. There abound horror stories of the jury that
gave away millions, when the company was thinking thousands. (There are
probably just as many on the other side; when the jury was full of
ex-marines who had no sympathy at all!) Consequently, always be thinking
about settling, its the only way to fly.
...More to come if you want, is this info worth a buck or two?
I was thinking about an ad in the National Enquirer , you know send $10
to PO Box ....(GRIN ;+{>) ) might be able to get rich quick, what do you
think????
