well I have had my arkenstone online for about 6 hours now and here
are my first impressions. Relax dealers who frequent this network,
they are all possitive. I am flooded with emotion as I write this
getting ready for bed. The ease of getting the system up was the
first important thing. I am not a techy but installing the card and
loading up the software was a snap. you would almost have to be
brain dead not to be able to do it. I was up and reading real simple
stuff in 15 to 30 minutes. I have yet to read the easy-scan manual,
but I am sure tomorrow when I do that I will pick up more pointers
and talking to users and venders will increase my pleasure and
ability. I think Ifeel like the east germans when the berlin wall
started to come down. The freedom sinsation was overwhelming. Better
than sex (smile) well,,,,,, maybe not that good but anyway just to
read the covers of a pile of books and instruction papers litering my
desk for the last coupple of months while I have been making massive
equipment changes was a triumpph Just to find out what the sheet or
book was wso I could put a dymo label on it and file it properly away
in my tall office filing cabinet. Coppying down addresses of
companies and dropping them in my address file was so great. I have
saved the best for last. I have waited a long time to do this. I put
the papers that described my hearing and the administrative law
judges decission in my job action on the arkenstone. It was
absolutely fantastic sitting here listening to my voice synthesizer
reading the decission unedited by a wink and I could replay any part
I wanted. After I saved it to disk I ran it through word perfects
spell checker and corected some of the typo's or the scanners
misstakes but to have that paper available for me to read or share
with someone any time I like defy's description. As time goes on and
the new release of easy-scan comes out I will have more to say but my
current evaluation is a tripple a rating inspite of some of the east
coast of floridas negative comments which were petty at best but if
any of you can work it out to get an arkenstone whether it is through
an agency grant or financing it yourself then do it. It is or can be
as important to a blink as buying a car for a wink. Unless something
radically happens I can say without hesitation this is the best four
thousand dollares I have ever spent.

TW> well I think the arkenstone is for some blind people like the
TW> opticon was for others. I had an opticon in 1976 and never
TW> could develop any speed or skill with it.

Tandy, I know just what you mean. I have an Optacon, and have tried to
learn it, but I just can't seem to stick with it. It seems to tedious.
by the time I figure out all the letters in a word, I've forgotten what
came before. However, I can't afford the arkenstone.

                                        Paula

... Oh never mind!
