DT> A client told me he can get the Toshiba 1000 for $600, not
DT> sure if that includes the ram disk but will check for
DT> sure. If so, I may get it and wanted to know how difficult it
DT> is to install the Sounding Board in that computer. Is it
DT> something that I should be able to handle or will I need a
DT> tech. I work inside desktop computers a lot, but haven't
DT> fooled around inside a laptop. Any advice will be helpful.

Dave,
Actually you would want the Sounding Board Lite. This is the version
of the Sounding Board for the Toshiba 1000. The Sounding Board LT is
designed for the Toshiba 1200.

I would assume at that price it does not offer the additional RAM memory.
In any case, the Sounding Board Lite is some-what difficult to install.
Because the port is not easy to get at, you have to take the entire machine
apart. I would recommend you have a tech. help you with this task. I would
hate to see you blow-up your new Toshiba. Actually I don't think you would
blow-up the machine but in all seriousness, it is difficult to install. If
you plan on using the battery level indicator, it requires that you sotter
a wire from the Sounding Board Lite to the mother board of the Toshiba.
The manual does go through the entire process.

Regards,
  Doug
