Index Number: 10368 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] Tandy, I have already placed a disk in the mail for you. The disk contains a beta which I believe will be the production version of the Audapter device driver for Vocal-Eyes. I am very pleased with the results. The Audapter is very responsive. This brings up a good point. I have found out why Vocal-Eyes is a bit more sluggish with external synthesizer then other screen readers. The reason has to do with getting the synthesizer stuck in the wrong speech mode. For example if you have the screen and keyboard voices setup differently, you may be getting the keyboard voice when listening to screen text or the other way around. So with Vocal-Eyes I have fixed the problem. This should never happen. It will and does happen every now and then with the other guys. Because of this Vocal-Eyes was a bit more sluggish. So I am wondering what is better, getting the synthesizer in the wrong mode or being sluggish. I took the middle ground. Vocal-Eyes is now extreemly responsive of course assuming the synthesizer is. The synthesizer may occationaly get stuck in the wrong mode but within a few keystrokes it will return to normal. This gets a bit more complicated then I have led to believe here but to make a long story short, Vocal-Eyes gives you the best of both worlds. Let me know what you think of the Audapter device driver. Regards, Doug -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!369!8!Doug.Geoffray Internet: Doug.Geoffray@f8.n369.z1.fidonet.org
