for you people who might be interested the new qmodem
telecommunications package is on the street as of september first. it
is called qmodem 42 and supports zmodem as an internal like telix has
done but it doesn some other neat things too including a automatic
script writer and this version doesn't talk too much when you don't
need it to talk going through the bios. it supports batch uploading
and downloading. there is a bushel of features I haven't checked out
yet. I hope this weekend to unzip it and look closely at it and then
I can give a beter review. I am distressed about one thing and I
have writen the author closed circuit about it. when you first
unpack the program and run the installation program it immediately
goes to com port one before you have a chance to configure it. for
some of us our speech is on com 1 so the speech crashes. The only
way I could get it up talking was to copy my qmodem 41B configuration
over to it and it was already set for com port 2 then configured the
rest. I may have a defective copy or the author might have a fix.
more later but this looks like the best effort yet. It still is not
for the novice or the faint of heart but feature for feature I think
now it is gona give the others a real run for their shareware money.
