I am a blind computer user from Phoenix AZ. I have had some
success using the Turbo Lightning package. Like all
products it is not perfect with speech but with a little work it
is very good.

LI> I'll certainly share whatever information I learn about thesauruses.
LI> Phil has helped already.
Linda, I am not sure what happened to your message. If I would
have quoted all of it, you would see that this the same message
starting over again after a few skipped lines.
Now, back to the subject. It is A spell checker that I am looking
for that will work with speech outside of wordperfect. It is my
spelling that is terrible.
LI> great Texas gals\s. Well, if you need a word before you get your
LI> thesaurus just ask Liz, myself, Susan--Marda, and Ann Stalnaker--she
LI> lives in Oklahoma, but that's not her fault, and we'll be glad to
LI> help you out!
What do you mean? You didn't always live in Texas. It is your
fault you went there.
LI> By the way, have you used the Word Perfect thesaurus much? Are you
LI> like the rest of us and looking for something that works well with
LI> speech, or have you found its thesaurus inadequate? I like it and
LI> think Word Perfect is good, but other things on the market are good
LI> also.
I have never been able to get the thesaurus in wordperfect to
work. I haven't tried very hard.

When I was learning how to use the computer, they taught us to use
lightning, but one thing I did not like about it, was that I like
to check my mispelled words after I have finished. When you would
highlight the mispelled words, then use your speech program to find
them, the first key you would press, would cause all of the
highlighted words to dissappear. That is why I have ruled that one
out. Can you get around that problem?
I don't like to be stopped while I am typing, because it breaks my
trend of thought.

I know what you mean. I stop at each word and use the "box"
feature of Vocal Eyes to check the words. This works
great. It checks spelling and gives my a thesaurus.
For example I just misspelled thesaurus and I corrected it with Lightning.
I will let you know if I can find anything else that
will interest you.

Phil, I missed your initial message on this topic, but i saw Linda's
reply. However, if you or anyone is looking for a great Thesaurus
program, get hold of the Webster's Professional Online thesaurus. Now,
I may not have the name exactly right because I can't get into it from
here and look it up. Wait, I think it's the Webster's online
Professional New world Thesaurrus. It's put out by Simon and Schouster,
and it's commerciall.
the way it works is that you can call it up from within your
word-processing program via a hotkey which is user-definable. I love
it, and it can serve as a dictionary as well, because it offers phrases
as well as words.
P.S. next time I', in Word Perfect, I'll write down the exact name and
give it to you.
I had to order mine from Egghead software, and at first, they hadn't
ever heard of it, but it's really a good program.
