[This is from the Blink Talk Conference]

William,
I saw your message about using Flipper and the DECtalk. You said that
Flipper responds the fastest to the DECtalk. This may have been true but
not any more. I have just recently re-did the drivers for all
synthesizers. Including the DECtalk and Accent.
Vocal-Eyes is now going at top speed!

One reason Vocal-Eyes was slower than Flipper is because Vocal-Eyes was
taking some precautions. For example, with Flipper, if you have the
screen voice different than the keyboard voice, the synthesizer could
get stuck in the wrong speech mode for the current voice. For example
while listening to screen text Flipper is using your keyboard voice. This
has always been a problem with external type synthesizer. So I fixed
Vocal-Eyes so it would never do this. However, because of this precaution,
the response time was slower. Same problem with the Accent. So I decided
to take a middle ground. Vocal-Eyes may get stuck for a few keys like
Flipper but it will reset its self shortly after. The best of both worlds!
If you want, I would be more than glad to send you the lastest DECtalk
driver for Vocal-Eyes. Actually, I would love to hear what you think.
Regards,
   Doug
