Yes, the Hot Dots program should run on your Toshiba. At the risk
of being partisan, I would like to suggest the translator I market,
Turbo Braille from KANSYS, Inc. It is less then Hot Dots, costing
$249.00 and accepts WordStar and WordPerfect as well as ASCII
files. It also handles basic formatting tasks automatically. Hot
Dots uses special commands to handle formatting. If you used BEX
or Braille Edit, they will be familiar to you, if not, then they
will seem like a hassle.

Send me net mail to 129/89 or 115/778 with your address and I will
send you a demo disk. You can also download the latest version
from Willie's board. Other boards have it, but may not have the
latest. I haven't had much time for uploading lately. The latest
version is 2.51.

Finally, we will be coming out with a memory-resident version,
"AutoBraille" this fall. You will be able to print directly from
your word processor.

DS> I don't see why the standard print format can't

DS> like Turbobraille and nfbtrans do any formatting?

You are right that you can look at a BEX file and know what is
happening. You can also produce print and braille from the same
file pretty reliably, but the commands are not compatible with
anything else.

Turbo Braille does more with formatting then any of the other
programs available now. We handle WordPerfect and WordStar as well
as ASCII files directly and handle basic formatting attributes,
paragraphing, centering, underlining, boldfacing. The program is
not always perfect, but for day to day personal use, it does a
great job. You can also go in and edit the "dot commands" should
you need to get everything just so. NFB Trans, while easy to use
overall, does not handle as many file types and does not do
anything with formatting automatically. You must go in and insert
the Tilde commands it uses.

If you want a demo, send me your name and addr3ess via net mail to
115/778 or 129/89 and I will get it off.
