Index Number: 10539 > Can anyone recommend software for the Macintosh that will read text > files > aloud? Leave messages here. There used to be a piece of commercial software that would do this, but it evaporated several years ago & is no longer available. I've rigged up HyperCard to do this, though, with Macintalk. The voice is pretty mechanical, and pronounciation is often, um, unusual, but if you can't see the screen easily it could be useful. You can make it read entire files or just phrases that you hilight with the cursor. I do a lot of work with Microphone, a pretty good comm pkg on the Macintosh, which you can also rig to read aloud from the screen. You can make it read automatically (which could get old ...) or set it so you hilight what you want it to read & press a button. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!109!421!Paul.Heller Internet: Paul.Heller@f421.n109.z1.fidonet.org
