If my new pup has one big problem it is being very clever about
sniffing without me catching her. I guess you never break it
completely, but she seems to be getting away with it enough now
that she is getting more obvious about sniffing and it is really
bugging me.

Anybody got any suggestions for this green horn.

Dave,
From one chow hound owner to another...don't let that little lab
get away with it. Now that this behavior is becoming more obvious it's
up to you to correct her everytime you notice it. Just keep after her
and sooner or later you may be successful in breaking her of it.
Speaking from experience, Labs can be very stubborn and it's up to the
taller member of the team to set the pattern for proper behavior. I've
had Fudge, my precious little black Lab, for two years and there are
still some behavior problems that we're dealing with<i.e., aggressive
behavior toward other dogs or barking when she shouldn't>. God, I hope
no one from The Eye is reading this! Good luck, Greenhorn! Give that
pup a pat from me...Maggi
