Well all I can say is that Rule # 1 applies when a health 
insurance company is asked to pay for something out of the 
ordinary the answer will always be, "We don't pay for these 
procedures!" as you now know.  :-) 
 
So the next step is to contact a cochlear implant center. 
For information and location call the Cochlear Implant 
Hotline 1-800-458-4999 V/TDD. 
 
When you are accepted as a candidate, they have staff, whose 
sole job is convincing the health insurance companies to pay 
some if not all of the costs involved. 
 
Keep us all posted.  You just might be the first one here in 
SilentTalk to have the Cochlear Implant.

I didn't get my copy yet.  I am waiting impatiently.  If it 
doesn't show up by next Monday, I'll give them a shout and 
complain.  I forget what I looked like with the beard-- I've taken 
up shaving again...
