Hay David, I have to agree, but what gets me even more mad is his giving readers that the only place they can get shareware from is Compu Serve. I get the distinct impression that he feels that he is somehow socially above lowering himself to use a BBS. That is one of the problems I have seen with a lot of the top dogs in the field of access technology for the blind. They seem to be to concerned about setting an image of being a little above the common everyday blind person. D. Index Number: 10730 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] About some feeling that they are a bit above the rest of the blind community. Its true--even if those affected this way don't know it. I think they are usually wrapped up in their won affairs so much that ongoing communications with the uninitiated or the nonbusiness related outsider is just not on their agenda. Its a common failing of everybody, not just blind people. For example the really series geeks out there probablly don't read this stuff because they are too busy geeking with their current project to bother with this sort of thing. But... a person has to be stupid not to use a bbs for $0.00 to download a shareware program, when he can use the $$$$ CompuServe. Talk to ya all later. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!109!143.0!Al.Hoffman Internet: Al.Hoffman@p0.f143.n109.z1.fidonet.org

However, he offended me when he would not run a SB> Press Release I sent him about the BBS I am associated with SB> and the Vision Impaired section that we started. I did not SB> want a story, an interview or anything special..just wanted SB> him to run the release. He said it was not news and refused. Steve, Hey, if you think you are offended, put yourself in my position! I have literally been a subscriber to Newsbits since day 1, purchased every tutorial Doug Wakefield has produced save this last one, the saddly outdated Procomm wone, and yet not one word about BlinkTalk has ever appeared in Newsbits! Frankly, I am not sure how much of this is caused by Doug wishing to portray a above the normal blink image, and how much is caused by fear of the unknown! Like others here, I owe Doug a lot, including much of my early knowledge about the computer I'm using, but effective use of a Talking Computer for communications?? Well, I think we could all show Doug a few things in this line! Willie ...
