Index Number: 10684 My wife works for the Virginia Dept. for the Visually Handicapped and is visually handicapped. Currently, she makes use of secretarial help and volunteers to get some of her work done, particularly in the area of filling out all of the various forms that she has to prepare. Her department has recently received approval to spend some $$$ on computer equipment, etc. and she sees this as an opportunity to get some computer equipment that will allow her to be able to more independent. The type of software that she is in the greatest need for is some type of software that will allow her to enter data into fields on the screen and then print that information into pre-printed forms which she inserts into a printer. This software should identify to her the name of the field that she is entering data into and issue the necessary vocal responses to indicate that she has entered the information correctly. This software must operate on an IBM compatible 386 and preferably be compatible with ARTIC Vision. If you know of any software that would fill this need, I would appreciate e-mail to the address listed in my signature below since I don't always get to keep up with the activity in this group. [Note from Bill McGarry: I'll forward any postings to Philip.] Thanks for any information that may be rendered. =============================================================================== Philip A. Index Number: 11054 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] You are right forms have always been a problem until FORMMATE from Henter-Joyce. I have gotten the Demo Disk of the program and am quite impressed. It requires that at least two files be created one that gives the program the necessary questions to be asked, and the other a file that gives the instructions as to where the answers should be placed on the form. These files must be written in pure ascii text format. If she has volunteers working with her now, then they should be able to easily assist her in creating the form files. This program also allows for differentfonts of print, bold, ETC whatever your printer supports. To do this you must create a control file with the control sequences for the printer. For more information, contact Henter-Joyce INC, 7901 Fourth Street North, Suite 211, St.Petersburg, FL 33702 Telephone: 813-576-5658 USA Toll Free: 800-969-5658 You can bet that as soon as I get approval from my boss, I'll be buying a couple of copies of FORMMATE for my Technology Center. Check it out. The price of the program is $495.00 which includes the program, manuels in print and on tape, plus a training tape that is quite good produced by Henter Joyce. I wish I'd had a program like FORMMATE when I was working for Social Security! This program is worth its weight in gold! Index Number: 11056 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] the agency I work for social security uses a program I think called "forms manager" they have prepared some forms for all of us field people to use but they didn't give us the creating part of the program. just a thought. there is some shareware out there doing the job and you could use a database like q and a or d base but I think a job specific program like a forms generator would be better. tandy ...
