As far as a Dyson sphere radiating energy, wouldn't it emit quite a lot of heat? You are trapping a lot of solar radiation and if you don't want the temperature inside the sphere to rise, I would think you would want to have heat radiators on the outside of the sphere. Larry Niven has written an essay on Dyson spheres, Ringworlds, etc., called "Bigger Than Worlds". As of a few years ago, this essay could be found in the book _A_Hole_In_Space_.
