Index Number: 11349 [This is from the Spinal Injury Conference] Anyone had the problem I had 2 years ago at Ocean City, Md. My wife and I wnet to most of the real estate agents asking them to send me a list of the condos that they rented that were accessable, many are that are built after '74. We left a card and asked that as they went through the condos and the doors looked wide, the quickly measure the doors and send me a list of those condos. Most said that that was too much trouble. they sent me their standard book of condos and said if we were interested in one, they weould show it to us. Living 170 miles away, that isn't the best arrangement. i started a letter to the Mayor, and Governor, but it is still half completed on my drive. Any one else had this problem? The Mayor or Governor can't really help because they cannot dictate business practices. I would suggest you contact each condo association president and ask for their cooperation in doing the measurement. -=joe=- -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!150!140!Joe.Chamberlain Internet: Joe.Chamberlain@f140.n150.z1.fidonet.org

John...
If I can stick my foot in my mouth here, it sounds like you have no
complaint. You're not coming up against any form of discrimination, you're
coming up against that malaise called the decline and fall of America.
These guys have forgotten that there are markets that, if satisfied, will
bring them real honest-to-Gd money. They don't know how to hustle! Ignore
the diletantes and find yourself a professional who deserves the title.
For starters, you might try contact Ron Rothenberg in Boston. I know
that's a good distance from the Bal'mr area, but he might be able to give
you some leads to some reasonable agents, and he's definitely a solid
source of hints and tricks.
If you cant find him through "normal" channels, ask for him on the
ABLED echo (if you get access to it), as he's been known to check in from
time to time when he's bored ;-)
Just treat this as a lead that others will confirm as worth checking
out. I hope.
Jesse
