Hi I am Brendan
I work in the Computer Services of University College, Dublin
and we are just starting to built up our knowledge and our services
for the disabled. The most obvious area for us we believe is to
enhance our computers for the blind and partially sighted sighted.

To this end we have got ZoomText for the PC which works ok when
connected to the mainframe machines over kermit but has some
problems when used over a Novell network. We are also using Artic's
Symphonix Business Vision voice synthesizer.

We need a good wordprocessor to work with these as we feel that Microsoft
Word is not ideal for these. Any ideas?

Is anybody going to the Conference on Computers for the Disabled in Zurich
in December? Regards Brendan

Hello Brendan: I too will add my voice to Bob Lambert's for WordPerfect
Version 5.0, and DBASE III. You'll find that Lotus 123 works well. WordPerfect
Version 5.0 also should work well with ZoomText. Other large print programs
worth evaluating are Lion Large Print from Computer Discourse, 1009 Kinlock
Lane, North Vancouver, B.C. V7G 1V8 Canada Phone Canada (604) 929-8886; and
Vista from Telesensory, P.O. Box 7455, Mountain View, California 94039-7455
U.S.A. Phone United States (415) 960-0920.

Are you doing any Braille production there? We're using a Romeo RB-40 Braille
printer which works very well. For large jobs, however, I would recommend the
Thiel from Germany.

Write to Peter Brooks for a shareware program called MAGHERC.
$35 registration. It makes large print screen access for IBM compat
screens with Hercules graphics cards. I think you will like it.
Also it can be adapted.. NOT FOR COLOR MONITERS.... ONLY MONOCHROME.
